Revue Sincere / MJ Cole:Confiné à l'underground dans la deuxième moitié des années 90, le courant UK Garage s'expose désormais au grand jour et révèle d'inédites combinaisons entre house, jungle et R&B. Fer de lance de cette nouvelle vague musicale anglaise, Matthew Coleman (alias MJ Cole) est le premier artiste du genre qui réalise un album. Sincere fait la part belle aux grooves déconstruits et aux vocalises noires. Si "Rough Out Here" évoque Curtis Mayfield et la soul des seventies, "Crazy Love" mêle avec une simplicité déconcertante le timbre chaud de Elisabeth Troy et de subtiles parties de violon. Quelques rythmiques sèches, notes de basse et de clavier, de belles voix suffisent à MJ Cole pour bâtir des merveilles (cf. "Attitude" ou "Sincere"). -Laurent Gilot.
