Screamadelica était le fruit le plus convaincant du mariage du rock avec la musique dance underground. Un pied dans la période Beggars Banquet des Stones (illustrée par le rock-gospel "Movin' On Up") et l'autre dans le néopsychédélisme de la culture rave ("Higher Than The Sun"), Primal Scream a su mieux que quiconque capturer l'euphorie ravageuse de l'ecstasy. Le leader Bobby Gillespie n'était a priori pas destiné au chant, mais sa vision de l'hédonisme cosmique en a fait le gourou halluciné des tribus de mangeurs d'acide.
